Thursday is gone now. I wrote something in Japanese for the Japanese society of neutron scattering where I am an international area reporter. To be honest, I haven’t contributed much yet. But I am writing an article as a voice of a member for the next volume of the journal. I think the journal thinks I could provide some opinion because I am living outside of Japan. They say I can write whatever I want so I am writing. But by looking at these past articles, they are focusing the education in the community. They want students to come to academic of course. This could be always an issue in any country. But yeah, anyway, I am also interested in it.
I got a PhD in Japan almost 10 years ago. My thesis was related to my current job which is neutron scattering. So I have been in the neutron scattering society since student. I had done a postdoc in the U.S. for more than two years and then I came to Australia but was hired by Taiwanese. I am here for already 7 years. So I have experienced something different from I believe most Japanese scientists. This kind of thing can happen in any job or life. Once you leave your home country, you experience different cultures, life, and work style. So I write them down for limited two pages. I am not sure if they are interested in it or not. Hope they can find something interesting.
Now for the work, my next goal is to finish writing. But always I should remind myself, the most important thing is writing papers. I have a paper to finish. I also have several papers to finish after that, once I start investing time on these papers, I learnt my mind does not focus so I should finish one by one. Then I felt, which paper I should start? Since some papers can’t finish with the current data set, I am worried if I can spend time is going to be in vain. Now, I can say, I should write as much as so I can learn and know what I need to do now. In my life, I always wanted more but finish less. Now I think I should focus on the work in front of me and do my best, then productivity comes later. So I will finish writing one by one. So I can finish many things in a year I hope.
